Alumni Feature: SangJae L. (Class of 2020)

Sang Jae L. is currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology. His academic journey has been driven by a passion for technology and innovation.

Looking ahead, SangJae plans to further his studies with a Master's degree in weapon systems, specializing in Computer Science. His ultimate goal is to work at Lockheed Martin in Washington, D.C., contributing to cutting-edge advancements in defense technology.

Reflecting on his time at CIA FIRST, SangJae credits the school's task-based learning approach for equipping him with valuable experience in group projects and hands-on tasks. These experiences have played a crucial role in preparing him for the challenges of university-level education.

One of Sang Jae's guiding philosophies is encapsulated in his favorite quote: "The gap of dreams is scarier than the gap of wealth. Even if a goal seems impossible, the moment you dream and imagine it, it is already there." This mindset continues to fuel his aspirations and drive for success.

When asked what advice he would give to current students at CIA FIRST who are aspiring to achieve success in their academic or professional lives, Sang Jae emphasizes the importance of balance. "I would say, do not be stressed out on the grade they are receiving. Try to be active in high school, make great friends, and help the society in need. When you enter college or the workforce, wisdom will be more valuable than knowledge alone. Employers and universities do not need someone who just has an 'A' in high school. They need someone who has the wisdom to lead the college or answer the problem that the company needs."
